Crap, what a way to start a day - thinking about our freedoms, or the loss there of.
While many of us can sort of understand that we've lost most of our
personal freedoms through more Nanny-stateism than we're actually aware
of, very, very few of us have a clue regarding their reacquisition.
I
read a friends email this morning, reflected on many of mine, let the
events (in my circle of life) roam around my cranium and sat here with
only disjointed concepts of truths. Okay, I did get up and get a second
cup of coffee, let the dog out of her crate for her morning ritual out
in the dark yard and made myself an omelet because I have to make a trip
to Missoula in about an hour, but that's all.
I
have been convinced, for more than a couple decades, that our two party
system of government is really only a variation on a theme; they are
one party, fractured into two seemingly adversarial groups of
nincompoops fighting each other for what appears to the be the last
piece of pie. Nothing has really changed over the past hundred years or
so...we still have the elitists and the flock to be fleeced. Come on,
get serious, you know I'm right. The GOP points out all the things the
Dems have and are doing wrong and the Dems do the same to the GOP. Both
positions are viably correct.
So, I check FB to see what the kids and some friends are up to and I find this posting, confirming my evaluation:

My
point is: we're getting pretty good at identifying the problem (or at
least the symptoms) - we just can't come up with any 'out of the box'
solutions that would produce the desired results..... NO? Name one.
No pie-in-the-sky solutions accepted....a real one that you are willing
to front/start and take responsibility for and see to its conclusion!

not so easy. Enough of us KNOW what's wrong, we just can't figure out
where to take the first bite on this elephant. We all speak platitudes,
but we have no clue where to begin - and THAT's what our enemy is
counting on and taking advantage of.

have an American Express card. I've been a "member" since 1979. I
just missed my first, ever, payment and they assessed a 'late payment'.
Okay, my bad; I'm embarrassed, I'll pay the penalty. Oh, no, that's
not enough; they've sent me a letter saying that because I made a late
payment (in full!), it has "triggered" the Penalty APR on my account.
The Penalty APR is 27.24%. This change will apply to all transactions
on my account and they will only review my account every 6 months.
Guess what? I will make (1) one phone call to them to address this change. If it is not reversed, I will close the account.

I am finished being a victim. I will no longer defend - anything. I
will only peacefully and respectfully exist and then attack, when
necessary. Preemptive strikes will be the order of the day. Threats
will no longer be tolerated or ignored. Hiding, remaining under the
radar, is fine for the few, but will not win the evil war that's been
brought to our doorstep. I have no definitive plan, as yet, but its
fomenting.
There
are a lot people out there much, much smarter than I. I'm watching,
listening and mulling. As Johnny 5 said in Short Circuit, "Input,
input, more input!"

I still have a sense of humor - it's just become radioactive. For
those with a weak stomach, or still believe it's possible to fly under
the radar without the submissive look of obedience on your face - you
might want to keep your distance. Just saying.
